KUMAR PASHI is the pen name of Shankar Dutt Kumar (1935-1992) who was born in Bahawalpur, in what is now Pakistan, and spent his life in Delhi. An employee at a hospital, he emerged as a prominent voice among the Urdu poets of the modernist generation. In addition to several collections of poetry (Vilas Yatra, Ru-ba-Ru, Khvab Tamasha, etc.), his output also includes short stories and one-act plays. He also published a literary journal, Sutur, for a couple of years.
