B. VENKAT MANI is Associate Professor, Department of German, and Interim Director (2007–08), Global Studies Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is the author of Cosmopolitical Claims: Turkish-German Literatures from Nadolny to Pamuk (Iowa City, IA: Univ. of Iowa Pr., 2007). He is currently working on two book-length projects, “Transposed Signs of Modernity,” a study of German writings and films on India; and “Borrowing Privileges,” a study of fiction in translation.
