AHMAD BASHIR AHMAD, born c.1932 in a village near Rawalpindi, completed an M.A. in Psychology at Karachi University, worked for the newspaper Dawn and taught at Government College. After moving to London in 1968 he worked at sundry jobs, including post office clerk and broadcaster for the BBC, until he joined the staff of the British Museum. He has authored a half-dozen books on his travels throughout the world.
